i went to the library today to get this book and they only had the version with the movie cover and the librarian’s face when he checked it out for me was screaming, ‘you are a grown woman checking out a teen book with handsome dudes on the cover you should be ashamed of yourself read some proust for god’s sake!’ another time hardcore librarian. another time. today it is all about historical hunks. the book is actually pretty decent. sort of sweet, which i didn’t expect because the movie tried so hard to be badass but the book is all ‘hey guy we’re pals! let’s pal around and be super in tune with each other’s feelings!’
after i got the book i bought a piece of pie at the health food store and ate it in a park while a jealous child looked on. another child had a shirt that said ‘i (heart) my mommy’ and i gave her mom a dirty look because man is that ever presumptuous! your kid can’t even speak, how the hell do you know she loves you? way to take your kid’s love for granted.
then i walked home through the nature path park thing and pretended i was walking around the grounds of my country manor. it makes me feel good to walk around and feel like i own the place. then i thought about how property is a bullshit human invention anyway and since i was born on this here earth that park is as much mine as it is anyone else’s so then i walked around feeling good about owning the place for real.
it has been a strange day.
