well that was traumatic. the machine sounded like the music from the ‘prometheus’ trailer far too often so all i could think about while i was in there were aliens. they did three scans - the first two were very similar but the third one just sounded like crazy shit and i flipped out. after i got over the initial stage of ‘oh my god it’s sucking out all the blood out through my pores!’ i realized i was just having a panic attack and tried my best to calm down. if i ever need to have another MRI i think i’ll be fine but this one was not pleasant.
funny that this should come up on my dash the day i go for my MRI. eeeeeeeee. i’m nervous. partly about the procedure itself and partly the way you’re nervous before a first date. i can’t wait to ‘meet’ my brain! it’s been in my skull this whole time! like seeing a picture of an internet friend for the first time. but more, i guess, like seeing yourself in a mirror for the first time because your brain is you and you are your brain. i hope it’s handsome. i hope it’s symmetrical in all the right places. i hope there are no moths flitting around in there!
ok i think i’m just freaking nervous and making a big deal about it all. it’s just an MRI. but i’m a wreck!

i have to have an mri on june 4th and i’m really nervous that it will rip out some hidden metal in my body or something. or fuck up my arm where my tattoo is. or just completely incinerate me as soon as they turn it on because that’s just my luck.
anyway how do i make myself less nervous??? how do people get mris???
